The Tandem centre Colliers Wood
The public can now visit the Tanden shopping centre once again. Access to the shopping centre was blocked by police during Tues 9 August.
Several of the shops are now closed and boarded up following the disturbances on Monday evening. These include Game, Boots, JD Sports, Argos and TK-Max.

Police are restricting access to the Tandem Centre site this morning, Wednesday 9 August.
Shoppers are denied access to visit the shopping centre today.
Looters have raided the Priory Retail Park in Colliers Wood. Stores including PC World,
Mothercare and Harvey’s have been wrecked by an out of control crowd of around 100 people. JD Sports in nearby Tandem Centre was also targeted.
Shops in the retail centres closed early on Monday evening leaving the area with an unusually empty atmosphere. This wasn’t to last long as a crowd gathered about 9pm, which was then followed by full scale looting. An eye witness reported that the looters had free rein to do what they wanted as there were no police to be seen. A similar thing happened in nearby Clapham Junction
The car park has gone
The unsightly car park is no more. Now completely demolished, all the rubble has been removed and there is nothing left of the tower car park.
We’ll see what goes up in its place.
After months of nothingness work has restarted on the demolition of the eye-sore that is the Colliers Wood Tower car park. The round car park is now almost gone.

Work to demolish the ugly concrete spiralling carpark next to the Colliers Wood Tower began in May 2010 but didn’t last long. The site has seen very little progress during the last few months. However today, November 5th 2010 (bonfire night) a crane can seen on the works sight. Let’s hope this marks the resumption of the demolition process.
Pepi's claims to offer West Indian Cuisine
Pepi’s seems to be open now and the sign on the door claims they offer West Indian Cuisine and they are open Sun-Thur 11.00-23.30 and Fri-Sat 11.00-00.30.
A sign can now been seen proclaiming that a new Bar & Restaurant called Pepi’s is to open on 7th May on the site of the former Prince of Wales at 336 Western Road. SW19 2QA [gmap street view].

Colliers Wood Tower Car Park Redevelopment
After the first week just over a third of the ugly car park attached to Colliers Wood Tower has now gone. The way is being cleared for redevelopment. There are plans to put a new public library on the site. You can see an illustration here
Bulldozers have started to demolish the car park of the Colliers Wood tower. This could be part of a massive redevelopment on the site of the Colliers Wood tower. The initial proposals for a major building project by Merton Council, in partnership with a housing association, were outlined in an exchange of letters revealed by an opposition councillor.

The Colliers Wood Tower was voted London’s ugliest building in a BBC poll in 2006.
The Colliers Wood tower is a 19-storey concrete office block which towers over neighbouring Victorian terraceswas voted London’s most hated building. It took 52% of 512 email votes sent to BBC London.
